In our latest ISO–Greenhouse Gas Protocol webinar, our panel of experts explored why product-level data is becoming essential for real-world decision-making across value chains. Key takeaways from the discussion included: 👉 Greater alignment is essential. Reducing fragmentation can improve transparency and make carbon data more actionable for policymakers. 👉 Organizations can’t manage what they can’t measure. Real action hinges on the availability of primary, product-level data. 👉 Collaboration is key. No single lever will solve this alone. Policy, data systems and standards must evolve together as interlocking parts. Thank you to our speakers Anasuya Raj, Naama Avni Kadosh, Alessandro Pistillo and partners at Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) for a rich and insightful conversation - and to everyone who joined us online. ISO at Geneva Cyber Week 2026 - Cyber resilience is not built through policy alone but is built through implementation, coordination and shared standards. Kicking off yesterday morning, we hosted a thought-provoking session reinforcing cybersecurity through International Standards. The message was clear: policy sets the direction, but standards support the implementation. Key takeaways: 🌐 Standards like ISO/IEC 27001 provide a common language for cybersecurity governance - scalable, globally recognized and built for real-world complexity. ⚠️ Fragmented approaches create vulnerabilities. Alignment across sectors, supply chains and jurisdictions is what builds lasting resilience. ✅ Certification and conformity assessment close the loop, turning implementation into verified, trusted practice. Behind every framework, every standard, every policy discussion, there are real people. Páll Magnússon brought that reminder: standards matter because children and communities are on the other side of every digital product and service we build. Watch the session: https://lnkd.in/emZPsavV And to close the day, ISO Programme Manager Cindy Parokkil took the stage tackling disinformation in the age of AI. She stated, "the challenge is not only detecting what is fake. It is building the trust infrastructure needed to understand where content comes from, whether authenticity signals can be trusted, and who is accountable when harm occurs. International standards and conformity assessment, together with practical tools like the Prevent-Detect-Respond framework, can help turn global commitments on information integrity into concrete, rights-respecting action." We thank our hosts and speakers for making #GCW26 a success. #Cybersecurity #CyberResilience #ISO27001 #InternationalStandards #DigitalGovernance Dr. Edward Humphreys, Kirsty Paine, Alexander Häußler, Francois Zamora IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA, Nicole Vargas Rivera, Hakim Mkinsi Tay Kinnear

Safety at work goes beyond physical safety alone. 🧠 Workplace safety includes a healthy psychosocial working environment, which is this year’s focus for World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Real progress means recognising risks that are less visible, but just as impactful: from stress and burnout to unsafe working cultures. Our occupational health and safety standard for psychological health and safety at work, ISO 45003, provides a globally recognized framework to help organizations do exactly that. The standard helps organizations raise awareness of psychosocial risks, get better at managing them, support the recovery and return to work of affected workers, and plan for and respond to emergency situations. Because safer and more resilient workplaces start with building healthier psychosocial environments. Yesterday, our Deputy Secretary-General Silvio Dulinsky spoke at the 2026 Digital World Conference on the critical role of International Standards in AI and data governance. As highlighted during the discussion, International Standards provide a common foundation for trust, interoperability and responsible innovation – helping to align approaches across borders while supporting societal priorities. ISO continues to work with its global network of members and partners to advance inclusive, transparent and effective AI governance frameworks. Thank you to all speakers and participants for an insightful exchange, and for contributing to this important global dialogue. #AI #AIGovernance #InternationalStandards #DWC2026
Today’s exchange at the #UnitedNations Digital World Conference representing ISO - International Organization for Standardization was a valuable reminder that AI governance extends beyond technical considerations and must fully reflect societal priorities. As AI continues to evolve, trust, inclusivity and human values need to remain at the centre of its development and deployment. #InternationalStandards play a key role in this journey, providing a common language that support regulation, reduces fragmentation and enables responsible innovation across borders. It was a pleasure to share the panel with the brilliant fellow speakers Dr. Isabel Ebert Caitlin Kraft Buchman Ya-Qin Zhang Boyang Xue and the moderator Ekkehard Ernst. #DWC2026

🌐 Geneva is once again set to become the meeting point for the global cybersecurity community. Geneva Cyber Week 2026 (#GCW26), organized by the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA, will bring together policymakers, experts and practitioners to advance dialogue on cybersecurity and digital governance. Cybersecurity is not a siloed technical concern, it is a strategic and systemic challenge affecting organizations across every sector, with real impacts on operations, supply chains and trust. On Thursday, 7 May, ISO is hosting a session that explores how International Standards serve as a bridge between policy and practice — enabling governance, interoperability and resilience in an increasingly complex digital environment. Because fragmented approaches create real vulnerabilities. And coordinated, standards-based implementation is how we close the gap. Moderated by Hussain Hadi, Head of Publishing at ISO, the session brings together voices from diplomacy, standardization and industry to address what effective cybersecurity implementation looks like in practice — and what role standards such as ISO/IEC 27001 play in making it happen at scale. Confirmed speakers include: - Dr. Edward Humphreys - ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27 convener, recognized as the 'Father of ISO/IEC 27001' - Páll Magnússon - Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Iceland To the UN - Kirsty Paine - Field CTO & Strategic Advisor at Splunk - Francois Z. - CSO for the European Division of Orange - Alexander Häußler - Industry Expert Cyber and Innovation at DEKRA 🗓️ Thursday, 7 May · ⏰ 10:40–11:30 CEST Join us in person in Geneva or online, registration is required to attend. 👉 Register here: https://lnkd.in/eEGxrG2z #GCW26 #Cybersecurity #CyberResilience #ISO27001 #InternationalStandards #DigitalGovernance Nicole Vargas Rivera Hakim Mkinsi Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA

New research from the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) demonstrates the real‑world environmental impact of ISO 14001 at scale. Drawing on data from 83 countries over more than two decades, the study shows a clear and consistent link between ISO 14001 certifications and lower greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP. The findings also highlight that the impact is strongest where standards are combined with strong governance and regulatory frameworks. As the new edition of ISO 14001 launched last week, this research reinforces the value of International Standards in helping organizations and economies turn environmental commitment into real, measurable results. 📖 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eCtREt2v #ISO14001 #EnvironmentalManagement #Sustainability #InternationalStandards
