Our license request model is where the monthly fee is based on how many requests playback devices make to DRMtoday in a given month. For example, this can include DRM key and certificate requests.

Our Enterprise plan also offers additional pricing model options to match your use-case.

DRMtoday operates on usage tiers. If you exceed the 20,000 license requests included in the base fee, you’ll then be charged in blocks of 1,000 license requests. But don’t worry, the more you use, the more you save on usage!

Our user model is where the monthly fee is based on the number of unique users your service experiences in a given month. For example: if your monthly period begins May 1st, then if a user watches any amount of content in May they’re counted as just one user for that month. If the same user doesn’t watch any content in June, they aren’t counted towards your June total.

Depending on your content processing needs, there are a variety of different CPU instances that may be used which can vary in processing power. For example, some instances may have more cores or threads per core than others. The instance we select for your needs is based on which is the most cost efficient to complete the job.

To effectively calculate and compare costs between different instance types, we translate each instance’s usage into a common base unit. This normalized unit is referred to as a compute unit.

Video Toolkit counts 1 compute unit as 10 minutes of normalized instance runtime.

Below are just a few processing examples, however, compute units will vary depending on content and encoding as well as the output renditions, bitrate, and speed desired. For example, a lower amount of compute units is needed for H.264 encoding, whereas H.265 is a resource-intensive codec requiring more compute units.
